Legalization is a procedure that gives legal force to a document issued in one country when used in the territory of another country.

IMPORTANT! The procedure for legalizing educational documents obtained outside the Russian Federation must be completed by you BEFORE you come to the university to start your studies.

How legalization is carried out

1. Consular legalization - for documents issued in countries that are not parties to the 1961Hague Convention.

Step 1: certification of the document by the competent foreign affairs authorities in the country where the education was received

Step 2: certification by the Consul of the Russian Federation in the country where the education was received

2. Apostille - for documents issued in the participating countries of the 1961Hague Convention.

Affixing the stamp "apostille" to the documents on education in the country where the education was received.

The "apostille" stamp is affixed to the original document on education or to a separate sheet attached to the original document on education.

The stamp may be in the official language of the issuing authority.
