Foreign students from Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Turkey, China and Turkmenistan, who study at the Preparatory Course in the Non-degree Educational Center, participated in the XV international ice fishing festival "Chkalovsk Fishing - 2024". This year the festival was held within the framework of celebrating the 120th anniversary of the birth of the Hero of the Soviet Union Valery Chkalov and gathered participants from 48 countries. The festival set a record with 1,443 fishing participants on the ice.

"The peculiarity of our Preparatory Course for students from other countries is that we immerse our students in culture, introduce them to traditions, customs, and crafts.  Winter fishing is exciting and together with new impressions our students learn new vocabulary and practice Russian language", -  said the Rector of Minin University Victor Sdobnyakov.

Foreign students of the university competed in ice fishing, took part in master classes and a music and entertainment program.

"In my country, Iraq, we do not do ice fishing. I really enjoyed it.  I did not catch anything, but it was fun.  We went to the museum. It was so interesting to learn about the designers of the ships called “rocket”. They showed us how to make a tool for cleaning fish, and treated us to hot tea and Russian pirozhki. My friend from China won a drill case," shared his impressions the student of Minin University Al-Yasiri  Mustafa Sajid Noori.
