The nature of magnetospheric-ionospheric disturbances during periods of high-energy events caused by solar activity

The school is headed by Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Nikolai Barkhatov, winner of the Makariev Prize in Natural Sciences in the category "Scientific research in the field of natural and exact sciences of high social and civic importance".

The school’s field of activities:

  • the nature of magnetospheric-ionospheric disturbances during periods of increased solar activity;
  • monitoring and forecasting of negative consequences of heliogeophysical activity for communication equipment.

The activities of the scientific school have been supported over the years by grants from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research: projects "The nature of seasonal variation of geomagnetic activity", "Intense geomagnetic storms caused by magnetic clouds of the solar wind", "Manifestations of solar activity in the geomagnetic fluctuations in the MHD range".
